Breeders of Quality Connemara Ponies

Welcome to Woodchuck Ridge, a small breeding farm located between Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio.  Since 1987, I've specialized in breeding Connemara ponies with good bone structure and substance, long flowing gaits, and laid-back temperaments.   At this time, all my mares are purebreds, but I have also done some crosses.  Due to limited space, I breed only a few outside mares a year.  Most of the foals are sold as weanlings and I do occasionally have a few older ones for sale.

I first witnessed the Connemara's versatility and seemingly endless supply of energy as a teenager, boarding my first horse at a hunter/jumper barn in Michigan.  I quickly came to realize what a superb breed the Connemara was, and I decided then and there that I would have to own one. 

However, it was almost 20 years later before I was finally able to purchase my first Connemara Pony.  I had hoped to find a good mare to start out with, but instead ended up with a stallion - Balmullo's Same as Gold.  Unsure of what I was getting myself into at the time, I remember thinking to myself, "I can always geld him!"

Now, almost 15 years later, I have come to love my stallion, and all my Connemaras, almost as much as my own children!   As a breeder, I strive to raise foals with laid-back personalities, good bone structure and a super way of going.  If you're interested in having one of your mares bred to Balmullo's Same As Gold, buying one of my foals, or would just like to chat about these wonderful ponies, please feel free to contact me.   I’d love to talk to you!
